Kaces III Bass Case Reviews 3

This is the molded bass case put out by Kaces III. I cannot seem to find a model number on it our on the Kaces website. It is essentially a black molded hardshell case for a Fender style 4 string bass.

I found this in the corner of my local music shop. They were blowing it out on a President's Day Weekend Sale for $30. I guess it was open box stock. Normally these cost about $70.

It fits my Fender Precision and Fender Jazz basses in a snug fit. Most Schecters and Ibanez type basses will not fit in this case. The is a nice storage compartment in the middle of the neck area. I can fit a tuner and a pack of strings in there. I usually nearly duck my cable under the headstock area.

The top latch up by the headstock and tuning pegs broke with the first month of using it. Oh well I only paid $30 for it. That does leave me to wonder, is this safe to gig with or will the whole thing spontaneously combust?

Besides the broken latch this is a great carry around town to the gig case. Would I tour or fly with this case? Not with an instrument I truly care about. The padding is nice. I now use an after market mod known as a bungee chord to keep the top sealed.

If this case were being graded like a term paper I'd give it a B- and say Good Effort. An upgrade from a gigbag, but not a sound hardshell case for sure.
